I looked at him one last time and got out of the car. I heard him say not to walk fast, but at that moment, I wanted to run away from Dean. I was embarrassed to look at him. I don't know why, but I felt humiliated. I walked slowly toward my house. Dean took a moment to leave. When he saw that I crossed the street, he started the car and left hastily. I saw him go, and he disappeared from view. When I got home, I was afraid to go in because I didn't want to lie to Jake. However, I had no choice.
I climbed the three stairs and opened the door. Jake was on the couch. He was only wearing his pants. He looked at me with concern.
"Can you tell me where you've been? Lena, I woke up, and I couldn't find you. I've been calling you. Why aren't you answering? Do you know how worried I was not seeing you and not finding you inside the house? For a moment, I thought Carla or Dean took you..."
