I came out of the shower.

"What are you going to do?" Carla asked me.

I looked at her as I changed.

"I have to go see Lena. After last night, I can't stay at the hotel. We need to talk. If I'm lucky, Jake will work, and I can talk to her alone."

"Alone?" She raised her eyebrows. "Do you intend to go see Lena by yourself? You told me we would do it together. You promised."

"I don't think it's a good idea for you to come with me after what happened yesterday. I want to talk to Lena about that."
