Chapter 36. Together

LENA

Since Jake returned to my life, I've felt more at ease. I thought I would have to endure a life in Seattle feeling lonely. But seeing him at the airport changed everything.

I know Dean didn't appreciate Jake's presence. Dean knew we both ended our relationship, and I know he felt joy at the news. But when his brother traveled with us, his joy vanished.

During the trip to Seattle, Jake sat with me. Dean sat nearby, but it felt like we were all strangers. He didn't utter a word, and Jake and I didn't talk to Dean either. When the plane landed, Dean asked for a moment to talk. I told him we would talk later, but he didn't accept my answer.

"He told you they'll talk later, Dean," Jake interjected. "Lena is tired from the trip. She needs to rest. She's pregnant and unwell."

"It'll be a moment, Lena. Then you can go back to your happy relationship," he replied.

Dean and Jake
