Chapter 53. Leave Me Alone
DEAN
It's a difficult question. I had a clear answer, but I knew it would hurt Carla. I lay to avoid hurting her. I knew it would destroy her to know that I still loved Lena.
"No, Carla. Maybe I regret rejecting her. But not divorcing her. I love you, my dear," I lied shamelessly.
"Do you promise? Because I don't want to be in a relationship where you don't love me. I can't bear it, Dean," she clarified.
I lost Lena. I didn't want to lose Carla too.
"I promise," I assured.
Carla got up from her seat and kissed me.
Doing this was wrong. I lied to Carla and tried to get Lena back. I told Lena that she was the most thing in my life, and I was still in a relationship with Carla.
The next day, I drove to Lena's house. I felt nervous about seeing her. Jake assured me that Lena was fine but scared. I knocked on her door, and she opened it.
"Lena," I smiled.
