Chapter 54. HELP!

I got out of the car quickly as soon as the call with Carla ended. The parking lot was empty. There was no one there. Or so I thought. Until a person appeared among the cars.
It was a man. I saw him watching me from the other end of the parking lot.
My heart pumped blood. I felt my heartbeat in my ears.
I prayed for Jake to appear and help me. I shouldn't have stayed alone in the car. I should have gone with him. Carla was right: I underestimated her.
As long as I stayed in Seattle she wouldn't leave me alone. I knew Carla wanted me out of the city, but I also knew she wanted me dead.
The guy greeted me. A chill ran down my spine. He walked slowly toward me. It forced me to step back. When I noticed he was picking up the pace, I ran towards the parking lot exit. The doctor had told me not to exert myself. Running was not a good idea for my pregnancy, but I had no choice.
I felt a prick in my neck. I touched the back of my head
