Chapter 55. What's Wrong?

Carla looked happy. I didn't know what was going on with her, but her happiness was contagious. She entered the home office where I was finishing up some last-minute paperwork. I had important matters to attend to at the company. Carla walked towards me, laughing. I was compelled to stop reading the papers because I wanted to talk to her. Carla sat on my lap and hugged me. She kissed me on the lips and then on the cheek.

"What's going on?" I asked. I smiled at her. "You look happy today. We argued in the morning. I thought that would ruin your day, Carla."

"No, I'm fine now. I feel splendid, Dean. I feel that, from today, everything will be fine. It's a relief that it finally ends..."

I raised my eyebrows. I didn't understand what she meant.

"What will end?"

"Oh, nothing. I mean that I've decided not to bother you anymore about Lena. I understand that she's the mo
