Winter’s POV
“I will check on her again, Your Highness,” the physician breathed shakily with fear for her life, scurrying over to my side before settling on a stool.
She pressed two of her fingers against my wrist to feel for a pulse.
That was it; all my hopes were dashed. She looked at Lordan, all ready to give him the news about her diagnosis.
“So?” Lordan prompted with eagerness for an answer.
“She’s going to be okay, Your Highness. As long as she keeps taking the herbs I’ve prescribed her and the pup is safe.”
I looked closely for Lordan’s reaction at the mention of the word ‘pup.’
My eyes slowly drifted to where Eliza was standing calmly in a corner of the room. I wondered what her reaction would be when she found out what the actual truth was.
