Chapter 57
Winter’s POV
Did I have a choice? I did, but I still wore the dress that Lordan had given me. I couldn’t understand why I had made it my second choice when I had many other options in my wardrobe.
“I didn’t have a choice,” I replied. “I wanted something dull for the night and couldn’t think of anything worse.”
He smiled at my response.
“It’s the deed that counts, not the thought.”
“So, did you come looking for me?” he asked.
“Actually, I lost my way,” I sarcastically replied.
Lordan’s next words took a more serious tone.
“All roads lead to me.”
I couldn’t help but inwardly scoff at the statement.
He continued, “You’re lucky I have gotten fond of you these days.”
Those words made my heart jump, and I felt a rush of blood in my veins. There was a warmth in the air, one that I tried not to feel but always seemed to envelop me whenever Lordan was there.
