Winter’s POV

Thanking Lordan for allowing me to reunite with my father after a prolonged separation and for the restoration of the honor of our pack would be the hardest thing all week that I compelled myself to do. And these things that made him earn my appreciation were also the roots of my resentment toward him.

No amount of good deeds could erase the memories in the Blackwoods, and that was a burden I could never forget. It was perhaps this ordeal that cemented my love for Lucas, who was my savior and had helped me heal in ways Lordan never could.

I decided to visit Lordan’s chambers for the first time in my life, unaccompanied. One of the guards at the entrance greeted me with a bow.

“His Highness is away at the moment. He is hunting in his grounds.”

“Thank you,” I thanked the guard and turned to leave for my chambers, but a sudden impulse changed my course.
