Chapter 52
Winter’s POV
I linked my elbow with Eliza while taking a stroll down the path to exercise my weakened legs. One of the things that put me in a better mood was the fact that Lucas was understanding about everything, although he admitted how hurt he was that I didn’t inform him about Lordan’s beastliness.
And indeed, Lordan showed his true colors last night, hence dispelling any illusions I had about there being a potential good side to him.
“I’m going to try walking on my own,” I told Eliza.
“Are you sure?” she asked.
I nodded, and we gently unlinked our elbows. My legs wobbled as I attempted to stand on my own, taking a few unsteady steps. Just as I was about to falter, Lordan appeared, taking hold of my hand.
“I’ll take it from here. You may leave,” he instructed Eliza.
“Yes, Your Highness,” Eliza replied and walked away.
