Chapter 51

Winter’s POV

I was trying to find some semblance of sleep in the middle of the night but was unable to. Just then, I heard the door creak. My eyes snapped open immediately as someone walked into my room.

I squinted slightly, making out the silhouette of Lordan in the dim light. My heart skipped a beat, and I dared not move, remaining still and unmoving on the bed. I watched in silence as he moved around and began lighting more candles.

I curiously observed him and what he was doing. He wasn’t aware that I had regained consciousness, and I continued to play unconscious while watching. When Lordan turned his face to me, I closed my eyes again and feigned sleep. He pulled the curtains of the windows open to allow a sliver of moonlight to filter in.

Then, he carried a stool and settled by the bedside.
