Chapter 64
Winter’s POV
It had been ten days in a lonely state of isolation. I couldn’t go out, see, or talk to anyone. It had been three days since I last laid eyes on Eliza, and I could only guess that she had left, given that all her belongings in her room were gone.
I relentlessly waited alone at the spot Lucas would usually pass by on his way to his peddling journey. He had refused to see or talk to me since that day.
I clasped my hands impatiently, turning my head at the slightest sounds, but none of them heralded Lucas’s arrival.
Then, I heard footsteps coming, and they sounded like it was more than one person. I quickly hid myself away from peering at those passing by. It was two guards accompanying a woman who seemed to be from outside the castle.
Her face looked vaguely familiar, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had seen her before.
