Winter’s POV
I stood in the washroom and dipped the linens into the water before using my feet to wash them. The repetitive motion. Helping the workers around had been my recent means of easing my boredom and loneliness as well as books.
One of the maids, a kind soul, offered to take over, but I politely declined, “Please let me. You can go ahead with the others.”
She acquiesced with a nod and resumed her task nearby.
After thoroughly washing the linens, we began the process of dusting off the water and packing them into large basins.
“I’ll go and get more basins,” I said when we had run out of basins to hold the linens.
I stepped outside into the courtyard, scanning the area for extra basins. A sudden feeling of wariness washed over me like I was being watched or followed. I quickly picked up the empty basins and made an attempt to dash inside when, in an instant, someone pulled my arm.
