Chapter 37
“Selene,” Michael called out to her hesitantly. “I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean it. I wasn’t thinking,” he said in a pained voice, pleading for her to listen to him.
“There’s no need to be sorry. You only said the truth after all,” Selene said to him flatly. She was trying to hide how much his words hurt her and the realization they brought. “It’s fine. I know you didn’t mean to say them, but you did. It’s okay because you’re right.”
“No, it’s not Selene. It’s not true. I wasn’t—”
“Please!” she shouted, cutting him off. “I just want to be alone right now,” she said with her voice lowered. “We’ll talk tomorrow, maybe. Please, just leave me alone for now,” she begged him. She got back into her bed with her back facing him. “Just go. We have a trip to go on tomorrow, and we both need to rest.”
