Chapter 16
She huffed and ignored him, taking her drink in her hand, and focused on what was happening in the bar, ignoring him. He chuckled at her obvious show to pretend like he didn’t exist.
He tried again.
“Didn’t know I would meet you here. It’s good to know you have a life apart from going to trials.”
That hit too close to home, and she hissed at him. “Mind what you say, man. Moreover, you are not welcome here.”
“I felt that mood then too at the dinner last night. Are you this much of a sore loser?”
She hissed and glared at him. “I wouldn’t have lost if my client hadn’t withheld information from me.”
He laughed. “Whichever way you want to think about it, the case is done, and it would be of no benefit if you make an unnecessary enemy of me when we can both be good friends.”
She snorted. “Why would I want to be friends with you?”
“Well, I know I would want to be friends with you. I love your competitive spirit. I think it’s cute.”
