Chapter 45. Take Care of It

Anna's apartment.

Anna had gone to use the bathroom and was just coming out when she saw Lucien standing In the middle of her room. She got startled and almost fell but he caught her just in time.

Anna held her heaving chest and looked up at him to be sure she wasn't dreaming. He smelt like smoke. Smoke and his cologne mixed together. But it smelt nice to her.

"What are you doing here this late? You scared me." She asked after she put her arms around him.

Lucien's arms curved around her waist, pulling her closer. "You smell like fire; a bonfire," She chuckled, her eyes still sleepy.

He didn't say anything, he just held her for a while before picking her up and carrying her back to her bed. Anna succumbed into his arms and went back to sleep.
