Chapter 16. Calm Calix

“We need to discuss a few things, sit.” Calix sits down, Demitri and Marcello following, moving I sit back on the chair he had ordered me to sit on earlier.

 “Before we start, how bad was it?” Demitri’s words have me turning to look at him. “When you got home.” I see guilt on his face, and I want to say he should be guilty, but it was all me.

 “Does it matter?” I look at him. “Nothing can be changed now.” 

 “Just answer me.” He looks annoyed, so nodding I decide to talk.

 “I was in the boot for over twelve hours. They let me out, I was expecting a painful punishment, but Dean didn’t touch me. He was unusually calm.”

 “You burnt his money, and you’re saying he was calm?” Demitri looks at me like he doesn’t believe me.
