Chapter 56

Ash's POV

I was able to clock out of work early because I had very little work to do today. I just wanted to spend more time with Riley and I was giddy. Yes, giddy. A guy can be giddy too.

But damn, giddiness died immediately after I saw Jane inside our house. She looked like she had just had her bath and there was a nasty bruise on her face. She looked thinner than the last time I saw her, which was years ago. I opted out of going to her wedding. 

"Jane?" I called out.

She turned to me and gave me a small smile. A smile that wasn't flirty which was unlike Jane. She was always flirting with the first man she saw, whether he had money or looked like he had money...what was I saying? She flirted with anybody who had money.

I frowned. "Are you okay?"

"What? Don't I look okay?" She asked me with a smile that just seemed so out of place.

"Where is Riley?" I asked her.
