Chapter 39
“Where did you say they were going?” Brenda all but screamed at her father.
“Now, Button, no need to throw a tantrum…” the man chided calmly.
“Tantrum?” she laughed incredulously. “I am throwing a tantrum? Really? Do I need to remind you whose incompetence and lack of a backbone landed us here?”
“Brenda! Don’t speak to your father that way.” Her mother’s shrill voice rang from the other end of the room, even though she barely looked up from her nails.
“Stay out of it, Mum,” she fired.
“Alright.”
“You.” Brenda approached her father. “You are a liar and a coward. You promised me time and time again that you would work it out. Then, you let the merger slip through your hands—not that I care—then you let Dominic get married to that… servant girl. Now, you’re telling me that they’re on their way to Madrid together for a show that I should have been attending with Dom.”
“Brenda, we can definitely figure something out. Trust me.”
“Trust you?”
