Chapter 48

Hadley felt bile rise in her throat as she looked at Carolina, her fast tongue suddenly felt tired and she did not know words to counter what Carolina just said.

Different thoughts ran through her head and she wondered how she should reply. Should she just deny it and say she is real? Is that not going to give her the impression that there was something?

Or should she just play dumb or ask her what she meant? Or should she just simply walk away?

Even though the last option looked tempting Hadley knew that it would be unwise to walk away especially if the allegations laid against her gas were not to be retracted. She had to defend herself.

So, she chose the safest option. Play dumb no matter what.

"What are you saying?" Hadley asked, balling her hands into a fist trying to hide her fear. "I mean it's not mean there are just so many rumors flying around that you are not real, that you are fake," Carolina affirmed and Hadley decided to start denying it.
