Madelyn was talking with her friends.
“Ever since he married that girl, she barely came here. She was useful, as my informant said,” Madelyn said.
“Don’t you think if the girl finds out, she will be hurt?” Evelyn asked.
“Do I look like I care? She’s a slave. She was sold to me by her parents so I could use her as I like,” Madelyn said.
“Where is she?” Mira asked.
“I sent her to my son’s company. I need her to go there often. I can’t wait for that cunning Mira girl to leave.”

All this while, Audrey was eavesdropping without them noticing her presence.
Her mother-in-law only acted nice to her whenever Mira was involved, so this was what her marriage was all about: getting rid of who she doesn’t like. Evelyn turned in her direction, and Audrey smiled.
