Chapter 22

“Like what?” Audrey asked.

“I overheard her on a call with someone. She said, ‘This will subdue her.’ I know it’s you because you have changed towards her, and she has been doing everything to get you down,” the maid explained.

Audrey picked up her phone and called her mother, but she didn’t pick up. She tried again a second time, but there was no response. She was beginning to get scared. She knew it’s only her parents she can use to subdue her.

She stood up, picked a dress from her closet, and called Ryan as she was dressing.

“Ryan, I need you to come to my house for me,” she said.

“What happened? Is there a problem?” he asked.

“I think Mrs. Madelyn is plotting something against me, and I tried to call home, but there was no response,” Audrey said.

She quickly found her way out of the house and boarded a cab to her parents’ house.

“I’m scared she might have done something,” Audrey mumbled.

“Done what? What can she do?” Ryan ask
