James’ POV

As I walked out of the dining area and made my way toward the door, Evelyn’s footsteps fastened as she followed behind me.

“Where do you think you are going, James?” She asked angrily, her voice filled with anger and hurt.

My steps came to a pause and I turned to look at her. She stood with her eyes cutting deep into mine as she looked like a time bomb waiting to explode.

“Where does it look like I am headed to? To work of course,” I replied sarcastically.

“I know you are off to work but you can’t just walk out on me like that, I wasn’t done talking to you and it’s only right you let me finish and not be disrespectful toward me,” Evelyn replied angrily.

“Excuse me, I never knew we were having a serious conversation and to be honest with you, I thought we were done talking,” I replied.
