Chapter 369. Tension-Filled Apology

I'm clutching onto her, my head in her neck as she brushes her hand over my entire body, warming me up as well as calming me. When I turn my head up to meet her gaze, she gives me a sweet comforting smile.
"Why are you doing this? You hate me," I inquire, my voice barely above a whisper.
She shuts her eyes, not answering. Seeming irritated by my question and the following statement I made, her hand settles on top of my hip while her other hand cups my cheek. She narrowly turns to the side to face me better.
"I want you to be okay. That's all," she murmurs softly.
Zillah brushes my hair out of my face, smiling a little. I never thought someone's smile could be this pretty, this heartwarming. It's stupid how amazed I am by it. Her smile lines, the way her lips curve up, it's enchanting.
