Chapter 6. Dreams

My thoughts nag at me. She's probably freezing. Blood loss tends to do that, and the blanket lies discarded on the floor.
Sighing, I head to a cabinet, grab a warm blanket, and quietly approach her. She's asleep, her ramblings ceased. Was it a nightmare or my poison's side effect?
Swiftly covering her, I notice her cheeks regain color. My hand brushes her cheek—no grimace this time. She feels cooler.
Suddenly, her hand clasps mine, forcing me to cup her face.
"What's happening?" I silently wonder, as she smiles and hums with closed eyes.
Uncertain, I touch her cheek with my thumb, earning a slight smile. Grinning, I repeat the gesture.
This feels bizarre.
After trying to kill each other hours ago, I find myself cradling her face. I gently replace my hand with a blanket piece beneath her cheek, hoping she won't notice.
