Chapter 24. Reasoning

Charlotte’s POV

Back in the village, the girls weren’t too happy about us bringing in some strange male; some even hissed at us.

The squirrel reacted the same, pointing at him as he laid unconscious on my back.

We took him to the queen, who was happy we were safe but disappointed we brought back a male. I talked to her about the reason, and because of my previous achievements, she let it slide, but I had to be the one to watch over him.

“Is he a male from another pack?”

“Was he rejected like us?”

“No way, males can’t reject their mates… Can they?”

“He smells funny too.”

Gossip started like wildfire, and Kali decided to add firewood by telling them about his fight with the Blood Moon pack and how I stopped him with a rock. Some thought he wanted me as a mate; that was the only explanation for why he shielded me back then, but it was too farfetched.

Iris and Kali reached Trinity’s hut, now the resident healer of our village.
