Chapter 139. Regaining Leadership

The next morning, Dahviel and Davina were up earlier than usual. "Mum, where's dad?" Davina asked, as she walked down the stairs with her brother right behind her.

"Is he gone again?" Dahviel asked sadly.

I had wanted to leave the house before they wake up, but they beat me to it.

"I'm right here," Skye said, emerging from the back door of the house.

"Daddy!" They exclaimed in joy and rushed into his arms. He held them close to himself giving each of them a kiss on the cheek.

"Where are you going all dressed up?" Davina asked.

"Are you going back to war?" Dahviel asked curiously.

"Something like that, but I promise I won't be long. I'll be back before you say Jack Robinson." He said, ruffling his hair.

"You promise?" Davina asked with a sad face.

He lifted up his pinky finger. "Pinky promise," he promised and they both hugged him close.
