Claire’s POV

The next day, I went to the office to do my usual work. I saw how Dad’s face was crumpled like paper. What had happened again? I sighed. I quickly walked toward him to ask what was wrong, and Luke suddenly arrived, which made me step back. I brushed off my annoyance at that guy to ask Dad what had happened.

“What happened?” I asked.

“The stockholders want to sell their stock to a person I don’t know. I hold 40 percent of this company, and 60 percent is divided among our ten stockholders. If they sell all their stocks to one person, it only means one thing—they’ll have control of the company with 60 percent ownership,” Dad said, sounding so stressed that I became concerned about his well-being.

“Who is behind this?” I asked him.

“I don’t know. Probably someone close to us,” Dad said with so much anger.
