Claire’s POV

My smile faded away as soon as I saw Luke and Jasper. It was so awkward seeing these two together. Instead of looking at them, I turned my back and greeted the woman beside Arlo.

“I’m happy to meet you, Mia,” I said in a friendly manner.

“So am I, Claire. Before I got to know Arlo from work, I really thought he was dating you. But it turned out you two are just really close,” she chuckled.

“Oh! Don’t worry, Mia. We’re just really close; he’s like a brother to me,” I smiled at her.

“I’m sorry we didn’t mention bringing Luke and Jasper with us,” Arlo said, smirking.

“It’s fine,” I said in a fake tone, and I saw how Luke chuckled, so I gave him a look that questioned his whole personality.

“She hates me so much, guys,” Luke suddenly said while laughing. He was probably enjoying the fact that I clearly wasn’t pleased about being beside him at the table.
