Claire’s POV

After spending the whole day at the hospital looking after Dad, Luke decided to grab dinner with me, and now I was on my way to the restaurant to meet him.

I even joked with him about whether he was asking me on a date, but he just laughed—he knew I was just kidding. This fake relationship with Luke wasn’t bad at all, I guessed.

When I got to the restaurant, Luke was already there, sitting at a table in the corner of the room. I smiled while walking toward him.

“Miss me?” I joked.

“Not really, but you’re going to miss me,” he chuckled.

“Did you book a flight already?” I asked, getting nervous about the possible outcome of him telling his dad.

“I did. My flight’s tomorrow. You’re going to drive me to the airport, right? Girlfriend duties, remember?” he smiled at me.

“Yeah. Fake girlfriend duties,” I chuckled.

“I hope everything turns out the way you planned it,” I said, this time serious.

“I have high hop
