I welcomed her embrace to feel it, even if it was that false warmth she was trying so hard to convey. I looked around; we were standing next to one of the largest fountains in the garden, the one with a sort of mermaid or princess made of plaster resting on a tree trunk. Earlier, when we first met, we went there holding hands. I had something more in hand than words to convince her and get her out of the way. The old man had given me a gift to prove his loyalty, and I would use it now.
I threw the delivered powder at her, and I could see her falling asleep, unable to control herself. I did not drop her on the statue but helped her lie down on the grass. She was still wearing the pin I had given her when we first met. I kissed her on the forehead and ran away from where Lion was.
