The woman coughed and took a big gulp.
“I beg your pardon, young man?” she asked, still not understanding what was going on.
Larry wouldn’t take it upon himself to question her; the old lady hadn’t committed a crime yet and could throw a fit anytime she felt threatened.
“Why is there a tunnel under the ground?” I asked seriously.
She was startled and fell silent, the silence letting me know that she had understood my words. A part of her was conscious, she was trembling, fear began to take possession of her.
“I… I don’t want to talk about it.” A tear flowed, and she hid her face with both hands.
The guards were watching the house; there was no threat to be seen nearby, but this front couldn’t be neglected. Someone had been there recently and might try to return, and if so, it would be most convenient to catch more accomplices.
