Chapter 18. Limbo
DOVE
Back in my land, with my feet on the ground, without trying to distance myself from my passions, I reignited the flames of what made me who I am. I looked up to the ceiling with my hands up high as if I could touch it and go through it. My plan was simple; it had to be done quickly and accurately, and I could have a chance of winning and, as a consequence, surviving.
I had given Clarisa the letter that Katherine wanted me to sign, which carried the royal seal that was impossible to forge. She must have stolen it from our room, where Jacob used to leave it. With that document if it got into the right hands, it would cause a big scandal, and that would give me time to get my husband back. I just had to pray that the copy was convincing and Katherine didn’t inspect it too closely. I had a little time left, one last play.
Clarisa brought the replica just in time; I thanked her and then signaled for her to leave quickly before anyone arrived and discovered us.
