Chapter 24. Suspects
DOVE
The news completely confused us. I was speechless, imagining those people. It made no sense; I had to go and see for myself. I waited for the doctor to give me a suitable sedative and asked to be taken in a wheelchair. To my luck, it wasn’t far away, and the journey was short.
I came face to face with the interrogator, who made me paralyzed with fear. He was an imposing man with a long and thin face, deep brown eyes, olive skin that caught my attention, and ash-blond hair. He wasn’t grotesque but rather attractive, with a fierce look. Just by looking at him, you could tell how cruel he was. I closed my eyes to not think about it because my husband appreciated him so much. It was one of many things that still scared me, and I was just starting to know him well.
“Your Highness, here are the suspects. They haven’t said anything,” said one of the guards, notably annoyed with the cooks. “They say none of them have been, we’ve checked their things…”
