Chapter 22. A Cook
DOVE
The frenzy in our room was such that everyone in the kingdom must have heard us; we had missed each other so much. Jacob was skilled at making me scream out things, destabilizing me, and making me addicted to every part of him. When we finished, after hours of expected passion, we went to sleep in my room, which was still intact.
Sleeping in a bed for me was like walking on the grass of paradise. I needed some comfort amidst all the war; it had been difficult days for me. Feeling the soft blankets on my tired body was incredible. Added to that, my relaxation multiplied in our marital bedroom, and I was almost sedated by that fire. I had Jacob lying next to me, embracing me with his sturdy arms and wide back, making me feel as protected as I wanted.
The dagger was still in the book, which I had left in my personal library; I should examine it later. When it was time to wake up, I looked at my husband with shining eyes.
“I found the cause of the problem,”
