“Tell me what you wanted to talk about,” I said, not in the mood for patience today.

I took a sip of tea, which was too heavily honeyed for my taste. I had to force myself to drink it. Maybe it was me, because the bad mood was starting to take over me freely.

I took a deep breath, settling into the cushions.

“I’ve seen that Karl is with you much more often,” she said, starting the conversation in a tense way.

Just hearing that guy’s name annoyed me. I remembered his words. Damn it, how would I tell Carmen about this? He looked so mesmerized when he looked at me. It was so uncomfortable for me.

“Yes, he wants to gain the king’s trust after what happened. These have been strange times. But we are united by the same goal, and that must not be forgotten. The kingdom, to recover the kingdom from Zack’s clutches,” I said, sternly.
