I lied; I couldn’t not do it. If I told the truth, the girl could be in danger. I preferred to keep it a secret; I wanted to keep her safe first. Jacob was looking at me fixedly.
“I know when you’re lying,” he said, kissing my hand. I blushed; how could it be so obvious? I wasn’t good at hiding things.
“You look amazing today,” he said, making me blush again. I didn’t know why he was saying that; my hair was ruined, unaligned, and I wasn’t wearing makeup.
“I’m a mess; I was very tired,” I replied, lying down on the bed, feeling the softness of the blankets.
