Chapter 41. The Baby Is Accepted

The crowd eagerly awaited Jacob’s response, his eyes cold and expressionless. Rachel, with the baby in her arms, also awaited, even if it was just one word. It was then that I realized the magnitude of the matter, which I was not clearly sizing up. So, with good courage brought from the depths of my heart, I stood up and stepped forward to do what was right.
“The king acknowledges his mistakes,” I said, looking ahead, my head questioning me. “Like everyone else, he is human and can suffer, making him imperfect. He will not marry again, but that does not mean he does not have a heart.” I took a deep breath and encouraged myself internally. “That is why he will accept that son as his own; he will be able to live in the castle even though he does not have my blood.”
