Chapter 20. The Dreadful Trip
“Isabella, give me your hand,” yelled a panic-stricken Gordon. Isabella tried to clutch at everything, but the slopes were too steep and she couldn’t get a grip. Gordon flung his whole body towards her and caught both her hands. He wound his legs around the trunk of a tree to get a grip and pulled her with all his might.
“Isabella, don’t give up. Get a grip with your legs. I’ve got you,” he yelled. Isabella sobbed with fright. She didn’t want to die. The steep slopes went all the way down and one look had her panicking more. Gordon pulled her with all the strength he had in him and finally succeeded, both panting hard. He pulled her towards him and wrapped her in his arms, hugging her close. Isabella sobbed in his arms, too frightened to speak. He wiped her tears away, trying to comfort her to the best of his abilities.
“I’m here for you Isabella. See? You’re safe. I’ll lay down my life for you. I’ll let nothing happen to you. You know that, don’t you?” he said softly and I
