Chapter 49. Guilty Pleasures

“Are you sure you took care of him? What if he figured it out and followed you?”

“Shh. Do not worry about such things with Keme, my darling. He and his friend are taken care of. I put a spell on the girls. They did not even realize their surroundings. I am sure of it because I read their minds before returning with Alec.”

“You understand I will always worry.”

“Yes, but instead of worrying about things you have little control over, focus on your little fledglings. Have you decided about Alec? He would suit you as a mate.”

His eyes darted from hers, and at that point, she refused to take in his disappointment.

“Drake, I, uh.”

Dracula raised his index finger and shook it. 

“Please, there is no need to discuss your feelings for him. It’s always been hard for you to keep things from me. Perhaps that is why we ended so sour.” He said as his eyes trailed off again. “I have no ill will towards you or the fledging.” He continued while stroking her hair
