Aset searched his eyes, questioning her own ears. Sure, she’d wanted him to look at her as more than someone he’d been with in Eden. She even wondered what it would be like if she were his wife, but she never thought that he’d actually ask.“Are you sure?”The words escaped her lips because everything he was saying was such a shock, so much so that she questioned his sanity.
“Of course, I’m sure. You are my best friend, the best oracle in all the world, and hopefully, you will become my lover and consort once we marry. Now that I’m king, I only want to surround myself with people I can trust. I know I can trust you, sweetness. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. Well, that and exclusivity. If you become my wife, I’ll only be with you. There will no longer be a harem in the palace as long as I reign over Egypt.”
