Chapter 3

We take our seats together, as usual; Olive and I sitting together in the middle of the class with Miranda and Sandra behind us, while we wait for our teacher. But before the teacher arrives, let me briefly introduce you to my best friends.

In every group of friends there is always the mean one whom everyone is scared of. That's Miranda Jackson. She is tough, feisty, bold and fearless. She acts like she doesn't care about us or what happens to us but we all know that she does care, big time. She's also super strong because she's an MMA fighter and knocks out most of her opponents. Sometimes people find it hard to believe that she's just fifteen. To be fair, people aren't scared of her because of her meanness, they're scared of her because of her fists. Who wouldn't be? 

Then there's always the super smart one of the group who gets straight As, has a perfect attendance record and helps her friends with difficult homework and essays. That's Olive Cooper. She's the smartest person I've ever met and is an all-round genius. She's literally a math, science and tech genius and I'm yet to see a math problem she's unable to solve, or a computer she can't hack into. She's also an innovative inventor and has won numerous awards for her inventions, representing our school well at competitions. She wants to be a world renowned inventor and have her works recognized globally. I see that happening for her in the not so distant future. 

The group won't be complete without the fashionista. That would have to be Sandra White. She has always loved fashion for as long as I've known her and that is why she's a fashion designer. She often rocks her designs and to be fair, they are the bomb, everyone can attest to that. She wants to become a famous fashion designer and with the progress she's made so far, she's well on her way to becoming one. She has a bubbly and exuberant personality and always tries to see the good in others, no matter how bad they are. Despite her dovelike nature, the girl is super confident and has charisma. She is humble even though her mom is rich and influential. She may seem dumb and naive at times, but I love her the way she is because she has a pure heart.

"What the hell are you reading, you've got your head buried in that stupid book all morning," Miranda says to Olive.

Olive slowly raises her head to give Miranda a deadpan look.

"Readers are leaders, Miranda. And if you don't like reading, let those who do, do so in peace alright."

"Whatever." Miranda looks away.

"I'm so excited for you Sam. I know you're gonna get the role, I can feel it," Stephanie tells me and I smile back at her.

"Thanks Sandy."

"Uh, all this crap is gagging me, ugh," I hear Allison complain behind me. The annoying brat.

Allison Gordon is as you must have guessed, the high school bitch and self-acclaimed queen bee of high school who only gets more annoying each passing day. She is pretty, I will give her that, but she let it get deep into her head and now thinks that no one is prettier. She is also the leader of the school's cheerleading squad with Madison as her deputy or whatever she calls it and all I can say is I feel bad for those poor girls having to put up with Allison and her bossy, overbearing attitude. 

We used to be cool though, back in elementary school, but something happened which made her very mad and now she hates me and everyone else that likes me. 

"You really think you're going to get the role just because you've performed in a couple of stupid plays and your silly friends are giving you false hope," she continues.

"Did she just call me silly?" Miranda fumes. It is only a matter of time before her fist makes contact with Allison's stupid face.

"What do you want?" I groan.

"I want you to know that I'm getting the female lead role and there's nothing you or your silly friends can do about it."

"She called me silly again." Miranda stands up, and so do I, in order to stop her from doing what she intends to do.

"She called us all silly, calm down, fire," Olive says, head still buried in her book.

"Look who's talking, it's the glorified nerd who thinks she's all that just because she restored the electricity in the school," Allison mocks.

You can't even restore the electricity in your brain, dumbass. 

This time, Olive drops her book and stands up. "Did you just call me a glorified nerd?"

"Look who's calm now," Miranda mocks.

"Since when are you interested in acting?" I ask Allison. 

"Since when I found out you were going for your first lead role. I wanted to make sure you didn't get it."

"I have more experience in acting than you do so you don't even stand a chance against me. You can't do nothing," I remind her.

"Oh yeah, watch me do nothing and a whole lot more. But not to worry, your silly friends will be there to console you when you lose to me."

"Okay, that's it." That was the last straw to make Miranda lose the last ounce of cool she had left and lunge towards Allison. She manages to grab a hold of Allison's fake platinum blond hair while Olive, Sandra, Allison's best friend, Madison, and I try to separate them. Unfortunately for us, Miranda has a fricking strong grip and we are still struggling to release Allison when the teacher walks in and pauses to take in the scene before him.

"What in the world is going on here?"

We all let go of Miranda but she is still gripping Allison's hair for some reason. The teacher has to call her name and signal them to follow her out of the class before she lets go of Allison. I know they are definitely going to end up in the principal's office and Miranda is going to get into detention for the umpteenth time this semester.
