Chapter 20. Be Careful

Amelia’s POV

I was bedridden but I could hear everything they were saying and I wasn’t sure what exactly they meant when they said the Wrights were behind it. Marcus had saved me so what did Richard mean by that?

“My men looked into the warehouse and it was one of the Wrights’ properties that was abandoned a while ago. They are going bankrupt Dad and I just have a feeling that Amelia’s kidnap has something to do with it.”

“Did you find the culprit?” Mother asked, joining the conversation.

“No, he fled before we got to the scene but luckily for us, we have Marcus in custody and would most likely get whatever we want out of him as soon as he is out of surgery.”

“Will he live?” Father questioned Richard further and my breath got stuck in my throat while I waited for Richard’s response.

“Yes, the doctor assured me that he will.” He responded and I sighed in relief.
