Chapter 21. Tell Me What

Amelia’s POV

We had barely finished our coffee when they got a call from work so they had to cut their lunch break short and hurry back. Once again, I was all alone with nothing but my thoughts.

I contemplated heading back home after grabbing a few things at the grocery store but just as I was about to get up from my booth, someone slipped in, into the seat directly in front of me and when my eyes landed on this stranger, they widened in shock.

“Heard your brother has Marcus under lock and key.” His gruff voice filled my ears.

I froze as the memories of those nights when he would bring me dinner and speak to me about how I had such limited time to live, it was a traumatizing experience that no one deserved to go through.

I never would have thought that after a whole week, the man that had held me captive in that warehouse would show up in front of me with such an air of confidence around him.
