Amelia’s POV

Most people didn’t know but father was much closer to Richard than the rest of us. He went on business trips with him and confided in him about almost everything. Even though he didn’t show it much and pretended to be much closer to me than Richard, it was obvious that Richard was like the best friend he never had.

“He went upstairs to change.” I replied and he nodded before he turned his attention back to his food.

My heart went out to him. He looked genuinely sad as he sat there poking at his food so I reached out and placed my hand gently on his. Stroking it lovingly.
