Chapter 62. Far More Dangerous

The moment we got back to his place, I kept my eyes on Walter all through the day. I followed him around and focused more on him than I usually did, not allowing him to fade into the background like he always did, in hopes that I would find something to prove to Nolan that it couldn’t be him. The man was old and friendly. He had nothing to possibly gain by doing something like that.

Nolan gave him as much money as he needed so he couldn’t be doing it for money. He didn’t have a family either, so there was absolutely nothing Sophie could use against him, and I didn’t want to believe he was just doing it for Sophie because he hated Nolan.

They have been together for years, ever since before Nolan moved in with the Crofts, so it made no sense that Sophie would be enough to come in between them. I tried to figure out what she could have possibly offered him, but I couldn’t think of anything, so I decided to tackle the matter from the roots.
