Chapter 13. Killed and Alive
The blinking of streetlights in a dark alley didn’t help the anxious Madison. In her mind, she wanted to evade the vampires who kept following her. She was helpless as she was away from the camp. Screaming for help wouldn’t aid her either; in fact, it might reveal her location to the vampires. She had reached a large factory and entered its vicinity; seeing smoke blown from its big engines somewhat gave her an idea.
For an instant, she stood there, tilting her head to the side, aware of the vampires’ imminent arrival. She used her brain and knew smoke and chemicals would conceal her werewolf scent. Later on, she heard footsteps approaching her location. She leaned against the wall, her heart jumping in tension, and she almost stopped breathing. She stayed there.
