Chapter 42
Harold Kurt sat behind his huge desk, right where Martin used to sit. He looked a bit small in the swivel chair compared to Martin, who was a much larger man and took up the entire seat, barely leaving any leather visible.
“Marlow’s case is tomorrow,” the man stated, his tone sounding more like a question than a statement.
“It is, sir,” Smith replied.
“You have witnesses and all?” Kurt asked.
“Yes, sir,” Smith confirmed.
“Good, let’s leave the lawyers to handle the rest, yeah? It’s not our job to jail anyone, is it now?” Kurt commented as he rotated a bit in his seat.
“No, sir, I don’t think so, sir,” Smith replied.
“How about you, puffy boy? Do you think we should spend any more time handling Marlow’s case?” He turned to Teddy.
“If he’s going to rot in jail, then I think we’ve done our job,” Teddy replied sharply.
