Fiona woke up to find that Carlos was not in bed. She looked around and did not find him, then went up to wash up in her room. When she returned to his side of the house, she found that he was getting ready for work. She began to roam the place, just taking it in. The place that had been home for her, ironically, considering the situation that had brought her there.

Over the past few months, she had become so familiar with the place she wondered how she was going to adjust back to the life outside. So much had changed. It ought to have changed. She had no idea what was going on in the world because he had strictly controlled her exposure to the media and the outside world.
