Aiden lay sleepless on his bed. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling of his bedroom. And Mira was by his side, deep in sleep. His mind had been on Cassie Moss since the day he visited her. And he was beginning to develop feelings for her. Intimate feelings. He didn’t know why this was so. He couldn’t explain it. Cassie Moss seemed like an interesting person. Someone who only let on a little about herself. And he loved the fact that she was smart.

He thought about her daughter, Bella—how she’d been rejected by her father. The same thing he’d done to Benny and her child. He wished he could take it all back, rewrite his wrongs. But Benny Myles was dead, and so was her unborn child.

Minka interrupted Aiden’s lunch with Mira the following day. She walked in on them and took a seat without being asked to.

“Who’s this?” Mira gestured at Aiden, who was shocked at Minka’s presence.
